Banking Law
This is the law that governs the banking sector, including money laundering legislation and accounting and financial services regulation. In Cyprus there is a specific legislation that governs this area of law and this is the Banking Law, N. 66(I)/1997 as it has been amended until today. Moreover the control of bank activities is made by the central bank of Cyprus, which was given its powers by the Central Bank of Cyprus Law N.48/1963 which has been substituted by Law N. 138(I)/2002. Additional to these main legislations there are various other bylaws and regulations which regulate the work of banks.
